Sushi lunch

Pinga has finally recovered from stomach flu and started working. She went to have lunch at a sushi restaurant with her colleague. She thinks this place has the best sushi in town but their miso soup was a bit of a shock to her. It did not have any contents such as tofu or sea weed but it contained a bit of chilli!

At the library

Momo-chan was at a local library today. There were many books and CDs for babies and kids. Momo-chan was charming the librarian lady while she was guiding children's section for Pinga and Pingu. Pingu will come back here to borrow books to read for Momo-chan.

A bit early birthday present

Momo-chan received an early birthday present from Pinga's sister and her husband. It's a rain coat with Micky Mouse motif.

10 months old Momo-chan talking

Momo-chan became 10 months old today. He was talking a lot and all of us were wondering what he was saying.

Standing Momo-chan つかまり立ち

Momo-chan is getting used to standing up and he now uses one hand to hold on and then try to do something else with another hand.

Birthday presents for Pinga

22nd was Pinga's birthday and she has received a birthday present package from her best friend in Japan. There were many things in it. Cute earrings, Momo-chan's clothes and snacks. Pinga is very fortunate to have such a nice friend!

Safety first

Pinga found this photo of Momo-chan at the Copenhagen airport. He was seriously checking the safety instruction on the plane. Then the plane begun to move to the runway and he fell asleep just before taking off. Good timing Momo-chan!

Not too close please

Since I came back home, Momo-chan has been curiously looking at me. He is a nice baby but I am not sure how he deals with cats. I hope he will take it easy on me when he starts to walk.

Back at home

Pingu came to fetch me at the cat hotel and I am at home now.

Many babies on the flight

There were four babies and one toddler on the flight from L.A. to Frankfurt. Momo-chan was sleeping half the time but one baby was crying hard for a long time.

Leaving L.A.

This is Momo-chan standing and looking out the window. Momo-chan will miss sunshine in L.A. but I have been waiting for all of you so please come back!

Very sunny

As it was very sunny also in the car, Momo-chan was using Pingu's cap to avoid the strong sunshine. After a bit of driving, Momo-chan usually fell asleep.

Taking a nap

As Pingu and Pinga went to see a movie, Momo-chan stayed home with Pinga's aunt and uncle. After they came back home, Momo-chan fell asleep.

Yogurtland

There are many frozen yogurt places in California. Many of them specialize in self service where you can take yogurt and then your toppings and then pay by weight. Since Pingu loves sweet stuff he puts a lot of toppings, gummy, fruits, cheesecake bits and so on. Pinga was surprised to see how much topping was on Pingu's. By the way, this one in the photo is Pinga's.

PCH with the top down

This morning Pinga and Pingu drove along pacific coats highway in Pinga aunt's very nice BMW convertible. With the roof down and the wind in their hair they enjoyed it since temperature is really warm at the moment in the LA area.

Standing on my own

Momo-chan has been training how to stand up while holding on to things. Pinga aunt has taught him and now he can stand without someone holding on to him.

Steak night

Pinga uncle and aunt had cooked a very tasty steak dinner fir yesterday evening. It was perfectly tender and juicy!

Escalator for shopping carts

At a store called Bed, bath and beyond they have escalators for shopping carts. Interesting don't you think?

A visit to Little Tokyo in downtown LA

Yesterday lunch was in downtown LA in the area called Little Tokyo. Pinga used to work at the Japanese American National Museum and they visited ex colleagues from there and also took a look at the current exhibitions. During lunch Momo-chan got a nice gift. It was a T-shirt which says Kaeru-chan (a word play which both means frog and to return).

California sunset

Pingu and Pinga have now checked out from the UCLA guest house and are returning to
Pinga's uncle's house. There was quite heavy traffic but that allowed them to enjoy the sunset while driving along pacific coast highway.

Cookie ice-cream sandwich

Pinga took Pingu to this cookie place called Diddy Riese. One of their specialties is the cookie ice-cream sandwich. You select to types of cookies and one flavor of ice-cream. Very tasty and dangerous for the waist line.

Splendid weather on UCLA campus

Today the weather was really nice and sunny. It felt like Swedish summer. Pingu and Pinga walked around campus and enjoyed the weather.

UCLA building with braces

Pinga used to work in this building. To make it more earthquake safe they have put up these braces at two corners. It really does not make the building look good though.

What to do today

They were at the Getty Center today. While waiting for a cable car, Momo-chan was checking today's activity. They decided to join the garden tour as it was very nice weather.

Getty center

After a lot of wrong driving because of strange GPS instructions they arrived at the Getty center. It was a beautiful blue sky and after lunch it was quite warm and nice. They took the garden tour which was ok. The architecture and the gardens are top class and it would be great to revisit.

Momo-chan gets taken well care of

Tuesday night they visited a Pinga ex colleague. Her grand daughter was there and she took very well care of Momo-chan and brought him toys and other things to play with.

Getty villa

Monday morning they decided to go to Getty center but they found out that it is not open on Mondays so instead they went to the Getty villa which is on the way to Malibu. It was the first Getty museum location and it has a beautiful reconstruction of a roman villa for that houses exhibitions and nice gardens.

Okonomiyaki

After the walk on the beach they came back to their uncle's house and had okonomiyaki (Japanese pizza/omelette). Tasty!

Sun hat on

Walking on the beach is great but the sun gets in Momo-chan's face easily.with sun hat on it is a bit hard to see but it is a bit better.

Santa Monica beach

Pingu, Pinga and Momo-chan met Pingu's friend and after lunch they went to walk on Santa Monica beach. One section has lots of acrobatic tools and he you can see people on the tightrope. It is not easy to see in a photo but some where running and jumping on the rope.

Dim sum lunch

It was Momo-chan's first time to be at a dim sum restaurant. He was curious and looking around as there were so many people and a lot of noise. He has tasted sticky rice and a bit of noodle. He liked sticky rice a lot.

Sleeping in daddy's bed

It gets a bit bright in Momo-chan's bedroom in the morning so Pingu brought him over to Pingu bed where he once again fell asleep.

Driving to Camarillo outlet

Yesterday Pingu, Pinga and Momo-chan drove north to Camarillo premium outlet. It was easy driving there but on the way back traffic was rather thick. Momo-chan goods was the biggest catch from the outlet followed by Pinga goods. Pingu only bought one item.

Delicious cherries

After dinner they had these tasty cherries as dessert. They are from Chile which now is in summer season.

Momo-chan is learning how to stand under the tutorship of Pinga aunt.

Momo-chan got his first tooth!

On the flight over to USA Pingu noticed that Momo-chan have a tooth in the middle of his bottom gum. Momo-chan has not been very upset recently so maybe it was not irritating him so much. He is such a nice baby. This photo is a failure to capture the tooth but it was a try.

Along the Santa Monica bluffs

Since the sun was shining so nicely they decided to walk along the park overlooking the beach.

Santa Monica place

Momo-chan is in a borrowed stroller at Santa Monica place. Pinga went into a store of course so Pingu and Momo-chan are waiting outside.

Osechi dinner!

Pinga was treated to a great Japanese dinner at her uncle. The food is traditional new years food.

Arrived in Los Angeles

Pingu, Pinga and Momo-chan arrived in Los Angeles yesterday. Quite the difference from Sweden. Pingu was even walking with short sleeves. This is the view from Pinga's uncle's place in Pacific Palisades.

Vising Pingu's old neighbours

Pingu, Pinga and Momo-chan were invited to Pingu's old neighbours house for an afternoon tea. They had cute tea pot and mugs and very tasty home made sweets. Momo-chan received a lot of attention from their two children. They had two cats and two birds as well.

Baby sleigh again

This is Pingu pulling Momo-chan on the way to their friends place for the New year's eve party. It was not so cold but a bit foggy evening.

Happy Meow Year

It was a sunny New Year day with Pingu, Pinga and Momo-chan. Their friends came for dinner but it was overall a calm day.

Looking outside

As they came back late last night, they slept until late and Momo-chan was sleeping in as well. As it was sunny outside, Momo-chan was standing and looking outside the window.
